Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard Information
Mac OS X Overview
Mac OS X is similar to Microsoft Windows; both are operating systems for a computer. However, the way they work can be completely different in some aspects, while at the same time can be very similar. While Microsoft distributes its operating system to manufactures such as Dell, HP, IBM, and others, Apple allows only their own computers to run Mac OS X.

The Updated Desktop
Apple Computer's sixth major operating system, Leopard (10.5), improves many of the applications from previous versions. Some of the major improvements include Mail, iChat and Dashboard. However, where Leopard really improves is the addition of Time Machine and Spaces. Leopard will also include Bootcamp, Front Row, and Photo Booth as standard applications, which were previously available only by purchasing a new Macintosh computer.
Improvements in Mail
The new version of Mail further integrates Mail with iCal and Address Book and
improves the productivity and ease-of-use for daily e-mail reading. Quick reminders
and new events will be able to be created within Mail without having to switch to
iCal to add the event. Professionally designed stationary templates will also be a
new feature, allowing any user to send an e-mail with that "special touch."
Improvements in iChat
In Leopard, iChat adds impressive features such as the addition of video backdrop support, so whoever you're chatting with will think you're at the beach or even in space. You will also be able to share a Keynote presentation or family photos from iPhoto and narrate the show.
Improvements in Dashboard
Leopard enables you to create your own Dashboard widgets easily. You no longer have to find a widget to do what you want it to do -- you create it yourself!
Major Features of Time Machine
Time Machine is Leopard's new way to back up your important documents, photographs and music. If you ever accidentally deleted something that you needed, you will be able to recover the file by launching Time Machine.

Major Features of Spaces
With Spaces, one screen becomes multiple screens with virtual desktops. Quickly switch from one virtual screen to another with a simple keystroke.
Bootcamp, Front Row and Photo Booth
Bootcamp, Front Row and Photo Booth now come included in Leopard.
Videos demonstrating any new of these features and more are available on Apple's Leopard web page.
