Student Passwords
If you have forgotten your password or would like to change your password, you can reset your password by using the Global Password Change tool. You will need the following information:
- your network username
- your student ID
- either your current network password or your 4-digit student PAC code (if you don't remember your current password.)
Your password should follow UCSD's complex password rules:
- It must be 8 characters long
- Use a mixture of non-sequential numbers, uppercase letters, lowercase letters and symbols
- It should not be from the dictionary, contain parts of your birthday, username or any other information that can be easily guessed.
- Example: u$33esDe. In this example, the password is 8 characters long, there is at least one lowercase and uppercase letter, a number and a symbol. You can read it as "UCSD," but using a mixture of characters, you can make it more complex. Of course, your password should not be the same as this example.
A student account actually has multiple passwords for different services. These passwords are usually the same. If you are having trouble logging in to certain ACMS services (like the UCSD public wireless network) using a password that should be working, it is possible that one of your passwords has become unsynchronized. In this case, please direct special attention to the note at the bottom of the password reset tool: you will need to reset your password to something different.
If you have reset your password, and after an hour you are still unable to log on to the ACMS service you are trying to access, feel free to contact our HelpDesk at (858) 534-2267.
